I get between 200-300 requests each and every week from people either in Multi Level Marketing or that are researching joining Multi Level Marketing as a business who are looking for advice on if they made the right decision or if they should even join a particular company… and my answer is always the same:
"What is it that attracts you most to a particular Multi Level Marketing company?"
If their answer starts out… that they want to take advantage of the residual income opportunity or making 100K per month... I know that 99% of them will drop out of the business within 3 months... on the other hand if their first answer is that they have a true passion for learning the secrets behind the Nutrition industry or similar and really want to show people how to take advantage of the savings and benefits of becoming a “Nutrition Industry Insider” or Anti Aging specialist or what have you, and they saw this as a way to help people learn it’s secrets... then I know they are starting with the right mindset and can do VERY well if given the right education and training.
You'd not think there was much of a line between the two, and I do admit that it seems like they would go hand in hand... but you'd be surprised if you were able to sit with me for a day in my office and see the things that I see.
I've coached over 8,000 home based business owners over the last 3 years (a good majority in Multi Level Marketing) on how to be successful in their businesses and the "line" that I was referring to above, is in fact VERY clear.
I get emails all day long from people wondering "should I join this company? or that company...” My question always comes down to this one thing:
What product or service could you talk about day in and day out, and NEVER get bored of absorbing yourself in information surrounding it for the rest of your life? Could you handle that if you joined XYZ Multi Level Marketing organization? It’s a valid question and one every current and/or prospective member should consider.
It's always about the product... we all want to be able to empower others with an opportunity to make money, but if you don't first evaluate your own personal interest in the product or service first, you'll jump on to the very next shiny business opportunity that comes along and will never stick with one company long enough to gain any real traction or expertise with which to grow a substantial business with.
Choose your business based on the merit of the product/service in YOUR mind and don't allow your "greed" button to be the deciding factor because the company is in "momentum" or that you can get in on the "ground floor" or any of the other B.S. this industry dishes out.
Get this one thing straight and you'll be set. There is no bigger decision that you will make in trying to gain financial independence then what company to associate yourself with, and the more you are out there in the business world, the more you'll see that EVERYONE thinks they have the greatest thing since sliced bread. Even more of a reason to make sure you've set sail with the right company for the right reasons.
Most think that it's the comp plan, the management team, the patents, the company timing, or any number of other factors... but I'm here to tell you that those things are all icing on the cake once you've found the right product or service to represent and THEN find the company/manufacturer to partner with and a place to call home.
